A Note from the Founder and CEO
An Urgent NeedChristian Union was founded in 2002 to transform our nation and world by developing and connecting bold Christian leaders.
Christian Union's vision for changing culture requires reaching an especially influential segment of the US population with the Gospel. The need is profound; the worldview of this unreached people group affects us personally, shaping our economy, government, media, and education.
Out of the 3,039 four-year colleges and universities in the country, 63 percent of the most influential leaders in our nation come from the top 1 percent of schools. Graduates from these schools also have extraordinary influence on the international scene.
Christian Union focuses energy toward developing Christian leaders at the leading universities in America, and in select cities, because of their extraordinary influence on our culture and society. Currently, Christian Union works in New York City and with students at: Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, Stanford, and Yale.
Although most of these leading universities were founded on Christian conviction, they have become intensely secular. While students are academically bright, they know little about Jesus Christ. Fewer than 10 percent will experience any Christian ministry regularly during their student years. Even with the help of local churches and national campus ministries, the proportion of Christian involvement and impact on these campuses has not changed in 50 years. The following video (3:02 in length) illustrates the profound influence—and secularity—of these leading universities.
New approaches and energy are urgently needed.
A Strategic ApproachChristian Union takes a unique approach, employing highly qualified ministry faculty and producing exceptional curriculum geared toward developing Christian leaders. The ministry helps students and professionals discover the intellectual validity of Christian faith, the profound joy of seeking God wholeheartedly, and the practical skills to become significantly more impactful in their spheres of influence.
The second part of Christian Union's strategy, beyond working at these key universities, is to develop networks of Christian leaders—both graduates from Christian Union ministries and other leaders—in key cities, beginning with New York. The pages of history reveal that even small groups of committed, passionate Christian leaders have made an extraordinary impact on their respective cultures in different eras.
As you explore this website I pray you sense the urgency of developing bold Christian leaders. While the need is great, we can take encouragement from reports and testimonies about how God is at work. And finally, I hope you are encouraged in your own devotion to Christ.
Sincerely in Christ,
Founder & CEO
