Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas from Dartmouth,

We are currently wrapping up the fall term, which has flown by like a blink of an eye. Students are fighting to stay focused and maintain energy as they prepare for their last finals and finish their projects and papers. To help alleviate the stress of the reading period, Chase (Ministry Fellow) and I hid Starbucks gift cards in various books throughout Baker-Berry Library and have been leaving clues on our Christian Union at Dartmouth group texting app. The students have had a blast searching the library and posting pictures of themselves with the gift card once they find the book. It has been a pleasant reminder of what a fun group of students we get to work with on a daily basis.

As I think back on the term, there are several highlights for which I want to celebrate and give praise to the Lord. First, I’m thankful for what an incredible study Colossians was with the students. Many have expressed how much they enjoyed getting to study this letter in depth and for some this was the first time they had ever walked through scripture like this. Many took up the challenge to read the entire epistle daily and some even committed to memorizing Colossians 1:15-20 with their peers in Bible Course. It was a blessing to teach this course and to see the impact the message had on the students.

I’m also grateful for how well our Thanksgiving event went the other night. This is always our biggest event of the year in which the freshman (‘19s) take the lead in planning. This year we had over 130 students attend, which was a surprisingly good turnout for a Tuesday night. We had a delicious catered meal with the typical turkey, dressing, and pumpkin pie. The ‘19s went all out with fall decorations and lights. They had a worship band lead us in several songs and two students give personal testimonies. Overall it was a wonderful night of fellowship, praise and celebration for all the Lord had done this term.

We would love your prayers as the students enter their long six week break from school. Please pray that they remain strong in their faith as many find it difficult to do while they’re away from their tight-knit Christian community. Over this term we walked with many students through repentance from deep, hidden sins as well as through healing from some difficult trials and wounds from their past, so please pray for the Lord’s protection and continual healing in their lives. We would also appreciate your prayers as ministry fellows that we would find rest and renewal after a quick and tiring semester, as well as we prepare for all that is to come in the winter term.

Thank you,

Julia Carlisle
