“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14
Whispers of revival are spreading across pockets in the US and across NYC! Will we be revived?
As the Church has eyes on the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Asbury University and Seminary, intrigue and hunger are growing. Many are asking, what must we do to experience the Holy Spirit ourselves in these ways? Lord, search our hearts.
It is exciting to report that several pastors in NYC have been seeking God fervently as He requires for many months now. Together they, their families, and their congregations have been fasting several days a week and for longer stints, praying, repenting, and wholeheartedly seeking the Lord’s face together. Following the outpouring at Asbury, a small handful of these pastors are beginning to see and experience outpourings of the Holy Spirit in NYC like never before! Did they cultivate a soil that could receive the rain?
Two of these pastors never made it to their messages because the altar was flooded with deep cries of repentance, hours of worship, and additional meetings during the week. Pastor Fernando Cabrera of New Life Bronx reports on social media - with eyes swollen almost shut from hours of weeping before the Lord, “It wasn’t amazing because I didn’t preach, it was amazing because God showed up. It was so powerful. It was a time where the presence of God just came down on us. I was totally broken before Him.” Praise God! More, Lord, we pray! May they be a bellwether for the Church at large in NYC!
Scripture is woven with stories of God’s redemptive hand bringing revival to His people when we humble ourselves, pray, seek His face continually and turn from our wicked ways (2 Chron 7:14). This principle of revival coming when we turn to God in these four ways manifests in the Old Testament as God hearing, forgiving and healing the land; but it manifests in the New Testament even more so through the outpourings of the presence of the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:44-45).
As God’s people, we either hasten or hinder the kingdom of God by attracting or repelling His presence (James 4:6-10, 2 Peter 3:11-13, Isaiah 63:10, 1 Thessalonians 5:19).
To hasten this kingdom growth, Christian Union New York is on a mission to cultivate revival in NYC by fostering a lifestyle of seeking God that attracts His mighty presence among NYC leaders and pastors. Increasingly so this year, NYC leaders are hungry for the Lord, paving the way for a mighty move of God and by seeking Him day-in and day-out.
Revival always begins with fervent prayer. In the words of Matthew Henry, “When God intends great mercy for his people, he first of all sets them praying.” This is why we ask partners like you to join us in the significant role of prayer.
Please pray for Christian Union New York to multiply the development of bold and humble Christian leaders in order to bring sweeping revival across NYC, attracting more of the presence and outpourings of the Holy Spirit!
Please pray that NYC leaders will be developed and connected through the four ways of seeking God laid forth in 2 Chronicles 7:14:
- Humble themselves
- Pray
- Seek His face
- Turn from their wicked ways
May the Lord repeat His mighty works in our day, in our city. Thank you for your faithful, seasoned prayers.
“Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, LORD. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.” Habakkuk 3:2
