Hello from Palo Alto!

As I write this, our students have wrapped up Winter Quarter finals, and are enjoying their spring break in locations around the globe. Well, that was the plan at least. As we all are now living with the reality of this global pandemic, we are facing the new reality of change, disappointment, and anxiety. Life interrupted.

For our students who no longer have a Spring Quarter, or any semblance of what life at college is supposed to be, is it fair to ask, “where is God?” It’s the sobering question David asks in Psalm 13:

How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I take counsel in my soul
and have sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

And yet as we pose this question to God in our disappointment, we are encouraged to see where the psalmist lands at the end of his journey:

But I have trusted in your steadfast love;
my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
because he has dealt bountifully with me.

Our journey through Covid-19 will be longer than six verses, but however long the journey, may we hold fast to the One who calls and leads us while we travel.

  • Pray for students throughout the nation dealing with the loss and frustration of this interruption.
  • Pray for the health and safety of our students and their families as they isolate for the public safety.
  • Pray that they would redeem this time, seeking the Lord with their whole hearts.
  • Pray for God’s mercy on creation that this virus would end quickly.
  • And we commit to praying for you, our partners in ministry and in the gospel!

We remain grateful for your prayers and your partnership.

In Christ,
