Hello CU Caritas Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Christian Union had an amazing faculty and staff conference during the first week of August. Thank you for praying for us! For five days straight we spent almost all day reading Scripture, hearing Bible teaching, fasting (except for dinners!), praying, listening to God, confessing and repenting of sin, sharing testimonies, getting to know one another, worshiping God, and more—both together and alone. Not surprisingly, it was an incredible time! For me at least, each day got better and better. God drew near to us as we drew near to Him, praise His Name (James 4:8)! What an incredible God we serve, who dwells “in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite” (Isaiah 57:15).

As we move back into the day-in, day-out callings that God has for each of us, please pray that we would continue to be filled with the Spirit. Please also pray for several members of the CU family who couldn’t attend the conference. May God meet them where they are, refresh them with his presence, stir them up to seek him wholeheartedly, and equip them for the work ahead this upcoming academic year.

We with CU Caritas at Stanford continue to pray for and eagerly await the arrival of new students at the farm this fall. Please pray with us for these nearly 2,000 new undergraduates! May God make himself known to them through Jesus. And may the body of Christ at Stanford, in humility, count these freshmen and transfer students as more significant than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests but also to the interests of others (Phil 2:3-4). Please pray that God will bless our efforts to show God’s love to and welcome these students.

Lastly, we will have a two-day student retreat the week before classes begin at an AirBnB in Pacifica. We are praying and trusting God that we're going to experience his presence in a powerful way and have an amazing time together! And that we will leave that time energized to love God and love Stanford this coming fall. Please pray for this time along with us!
