Dear Cornerstone Partners and friends of CU Lux,

Love never fails and never ends. Unlike the physical and temporal things, love has no expiration date. Even spiritual gifts will pass away because they are temporary provisions of God’s grace. But love never, ever loses its relevance. It remains no matter what. Love is and will always be an attribute of God’s eternal character. It won’t go away, but it can lose its power over us.

Our love has grown this Valentine’s Day, and so has our outreach. On February 14, a day as cold as frozen iron, CU Lux handed four hundred flowers to four hundred students. What more could a student ask? A symbolic gift from strangers that points to the one who is stranger to none. Each flower came with a card and a barcode that students could scan and connect over coffee with one of our leaders. 1 John 4:16 was written in bold at the top of each card.

“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.”

What more could a Yale student ask than to know God’s love. As I walked through the Hewitt Quad to the Old Campus and back, I saw many students carrying flowers in their hands and a place for God’s love to dwell in their hearts. God is pursuing them, trying to get their attention. He is pursuing them each day at Yale.

Pray that the fragrance of God’s love will radiate over each one of the four hundred students who received our Valentine’s Day gift. Flowers were handed out, barcodes were scanned, and many reached out expressing interest to meet and talk about God’s love. Perception is reality. Once a student knows and believes in God’s love, everything changes. His or her temporal life is marked by the eternal:

  • They take their lives and give them up.
  • They are the ones who have enough.
  • They live and stay in God’s love.
  • They have everything.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We kindly ask you to pray for the gladdest thing under the sun, for more Yale students to join the creed, “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love.”

Blessings,
