Friends,

It’s hard to believe, but we’re already at the end of the semester here at Brown! These past few months have flown by as God has continued to work in the lives of so many students. Through our study of Mark’s Gospel, students have given serious thought to what it means to truly follow after Christ. Our weekly large-group gathering, The Anchor, has fostered space for healthy, Christ-centered dialogue on the topics of sexuality, politics, race and mental health – complex issues with which students at Brown are constantly wrestling and seeking to navigate as faithfully obedient and thoughtful Christians.

And, in keeping with the mission of Christian Union, we have seen student after student step into leadership roles, opportunities that have not only benefited our ministry here at Brown, but have served to give real-life leadership experience to these students from a Christian perspective. As always, we stand amazed at God’s faithfulness to us and these students over the course of yet another semester!

As we take a break over the Christmas season, please join us in praying for the following:

  • Students to Rest in Jesus: I probably sound like a broken record to our students by now, but I’m constantly reminding them that true rest is only found in the arms of Jesus. Please pray that they would use this Winter Break to press into Jesus, to seek after Him full-heartedly and, there, in His arms, find true rest.
  • Rest for the Christian Union Faculty at Brown: By the end of the semester, no matter how exciting it has been for us, the faculty, we are ready for a little break from the busyness of ministry. Please pray for Matt Woodard, Ministry Director, Laurel Copp, Ministry Fellow, and me as we spend time with family and prepare for next semester. Pray that we, like the students, would find rest in Jesus, and that, as we prepare for next semester, the Spirit would guide and direct us.

We’re so thankful for your continued partnership in Jesus’ ministry here at Brown!

May you have a rich and hope-filled Christmas,

Justin Doyle
Christian Union Ministry Fellow
