Biblical Literacy in America

Salon with Chuck Stetson

George Barna’s research now shows that only 7 percent of the 244 million adult Americans have a Biblical worldview. If culture is to be redeemed in a lasting way, an increase in Biblical literacy is essential. We invite Chuck Stetson to talk to us about the state of Biblical literacy in America and how to proliferate knowledge about our faith’s foundational text.

God and the Newsroom

Salon with Paul Glader

Join CU New York on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 7-9pm as we discuss the topic, "God and the Newsroom."

How should religious people, namely Christians, think about and approach the news media? What do we think of politician's calling journalists “the enemy of the people?” What about the problem of misinformation and the application (and misapplication) of the term “Fake News”? Why is the news media important? How and why should Christian believers consider it a noble sector in which to work? A veteran Wall Street Journal reporter and a journalism professor shares some perspective and some history.

Many Americans doubt that a two thousand year religion can possibly make sense of the complexities of the contemporary world. Professor Skeel will argue that this perception gets things precisely backwards.
