Caleb will exploring the topic, "How (and How Not) to Watch a Movie." Films tell us a great deal about ourselves and our culture, and in understanding these more fully we are better able, as Christian, to engage in ways that are meaningful and transformative. Like the two classes of wine drinker, there are two classes of film viewer: consumers and contemplators. Both enjoy the film, but the contemplator notices more, understands more, and therefore enjoys more. A little guidance turns consumers into contemplators. Our guest will provide just that little guidance using the pilot episode of Downton Abbey-- guiding us on how to pay attention to bits of genius and nuance we might not have noticed otherwise.

About Salons
Christian Union salons are fashioned after the features that made earlier European salons famous – an inspiring venue for the exchange of ideas. Salons provide an intimate gathering for Christian leaders to develop strong ties, discussing topics that will strengthen both the intellectual and supernatural dimensions of your Christian faith. Expert speakers will go in-depth, and participants will have the opportunity to interact with the guest presenter as well as one another.
