Freedom From Anxiety

CU Lumine Alumna Experiences Inner Healing and Transformation

By Feven Negussie, CU Lumine '22

But thanks be to God! He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Corinthians 15:57

I found Christian Union when I was in a desperate position as a sophomore in college. I spent (or rather wasted) my freshman year of college in the most ungodly lifestyle—I will not even venture to describe it here. That year, I also experienced the biggest onslaught on my mental health. I experienced frequent panic attacks and severe insomnia. I lost weight dramatically and I found myself not being able to eat or sleep properly. Even when faced with these attacks on my mind and body, I continued on in my wayward ways.

By Anne Kerhoulas

Christian Union has served undergraduate and graduate students at some of the most influential universities in the country for decades. But what happens to these students after they graduate? The transition from college to the working world is not only challenging on a personal level, but it is also one of the times individuals are more likely to walk away from their faith.

A Movement Bringing Spiritual Renewal

October CU Fire Retreat Elicits Powerful Responses As Holy Spirit Moves in Power

By Chuck Hetzler

“This was my first CU Fire Retreat. It's hard to put into words what I experienced this weekend.  I have been challenged to examine my walk with the Lord, to address areas where I am not walking in obedience. With regard to revival, I have a better understanding as to what is required of us collectively and myself individually.  This is a new beginning for me. I don't think I will ever be the same again. The teachings were the most memorable part for me but our small group discussions and prayer times were also wonderful.”

Inner Healing Brings Transformational Life Change

Christian Union students and alumni experience radical healing through healing prayer methods

By Anne Kerhoulas

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed. - Luke 4:18

inner healing

The ministry of Jesus is a wildly supernatural ministry. But today, many churches focus on the teachings of Jesus more than the power of Jesus when he performed miracles, healings, deliverances, and raised the dead. Though the teaching of Jesus is essential to every church and every believer, the supernatural works of Jesus are such an enormous part of His ministry that they cannot be overlooked. And yet that’s exactly what is happening across America.

Why We Shouldn’t Call America a “Post-Christian Nation”

The United States Has Been Marked by Spiritual Ebbs and Flows

By Dr. Chuck Hetzler

The light of the gospel has been fading for many years in the western world. America, along with Canada and many western European nations, are often referred to as “post-Christian.” I’ve caught myself using the term as well, but it’s actually a misleading and harmful catchphrase. Referring to America as a “post-Christian nation” reinforces a false narrative about our country’s Christian history and fosters an ungodly perspective that must be renounced.

The Urgency of Evangelism: Inspiration from D.L. Moody

CU Rise Campaign Is Proclaiming the Good News to Students

By Tom Campisi, Managing Editor

“What shall you do then with Jesus which is called Christ?”

That was the question posed by preacher Dwight Lyman Moody at his Illinois Street Church in Chicago on October 8, 1871. In the sermon, he paraphrased the question asked by Pontius Pilate in the Gospel of Matthew (27:22). Moody challenged the congregation to think about it during the week and return to church the following Sunday with an answer—would they crown Christ as Lord or, like Pilate and the misguided mob of that time, deny his supremacy? However, as Moody finished his sermon, a warning bell began to ring. The Great Chicago Fire was raging. There was no next week at his church, which burned to the ground like many of the buildings in the city.
