40days-new-doxa3America desperately needs a significant turnaround from its current trajectory. The nation has seen an increasing malaise over the last 60 years through decline in church attendance and belief, increasing embrace of the sexual revolution, an incredibly high incarceration rate and other problems.

Even in the face of extraordinary efforts by remarkable people through church planting initiatives, Christian book and movie publishing and innovative outreach strategies, Christian leadership in this nation has only been able to manage the steady decline. That is, the Christian witness in America has decreased less quickly than it otherwise would have apart from our efforts; the decline has been slowed, but never stopped. Some have even given up hope that the slide toward secularism and all of its bitter fruits can be stopped.

Other times of tremendous spiritual renewal in America have always been preceded by energetic efforts of praying, fasting, repentance and proclamation of the true word of God. James 4:4 tells us to seek God fervently because when we "draw near to God... He will draw near to you." (James 4:8).

Lunch Time Prayer Movement of 1857
In New York City in 1857, a prayer movement began among a handful that spread to tens of thousands in NYC and then hundreds of thousands across the United States. Men and women stopped to pray from noon to 1pm each day, and also often prayed in the mornings and evenings as well. Out of a population of 30 million in the U.S. at the time, over a million came to faith in just one year.

To see the current trajectory in America changed, and to see the nation renewed, Christians must do what the people of God have always needed to do when an intervention of God is our only hope: seek Him with our whole hearts through fasting, prayer, repentance, obedience and proclamation of the word.

Please join Christian Union Founder & CEO Matt Bennett and many others for a special 40 day season of prayer, fasting and humbling of ourselves. We need God. Our nation, our churches, our communities, and our families all desperately need God.
