Christian Union Lumine LogoThe ministry at Columbia — now called Christian Union Lumine — is a student organization that is focused on leadership development.

Christian Union Lumine provides in-depth study of Scripture, leadership training, fellowship, and support for Christian students, as well as resources to help any interested students — regardless of their spiritual background — learn about Christianity.

The group's main activities include intellectually rigorous Bible courses, a weekly lecture series called Illumina, conferences, and various outreaches on campus. If you are a current or prospective student, or have a question about Christian Union at Columbia, please contact our ministry faculty there via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. Highlights

  • In 2019-20, 183 undergraduate students at Columbia enrolled in Christian Union's rigorous, weekly Bible courses.
  • This year, three full-time Christian Union ministry faculty and one intern worked directly with students, providing Bible course instruction, mentorship and leadership coaching.
  • The leadership lecture series, Illumina, addressed a host of challenging, inspiring topics throughout the year like Is God Sexist?; Our Justice Calling; and If We Have Science, Why Do We Need God?
  • Conferences took students off campus twice and provided stellar teaching on the book of John, times of worship and community building.
  • The outreach team organized a Holy Week fast and daily devotional in which 50 students took part.
  • Weekly Sunday night dinners and prayer were a community cornerstone and the foundation for Lumine's seeking God culture.
