Christian Union

Greetings from Dartmouth,

Yesterday was a beautiful day to watch our seniors (‘18s) walk across the stage and graduate from Dartmouth. The ‘18s were freshmen when I first started with Christian Union (CU), so it has been an especially nostalgic couple of weeks as we all prepared for them to flee the CU nest into the “real world.”

We were thankful 20 of them were able to get away to Hopewell House, CU’s retreat house near Lake George in New York, for our annual senior retreat. Everyone had a great time relaxing, playing games, boating, and being dominated by the staff in both bowling and laser tag! We ended the retreat with a time to break off and go around sharing one-on-one with each other what everyone has meant to them. I think it was a great time for the ‘18s to just focus on spending time together as they recovered from a full term of thesis writing and job hunting. Please join us in praying for these amazing men and women; that they would pursue Christ with even more fervor as they embark on this new season of life. Pray that they would prioritize and quickly find a church community to invest in and pray that they would draw near to the Lord as they go through the difficult adjustment of being away from the friends they have become so close to. Pray too, that the Lord would use what they have learned in their time in CU at Dartmouth to serve the Church and love the world with the gospel.

We would also appreciate prayer as we head into the summer. Pray that it will be restful for the staff and that our time getting to focus on the sophomores (‘20s) would be fun and fruitful! Pray that the ‘20s would grow closer to one another as a class and that they would be committed to attending our summer book study.

It’s not too soon to start praying for our incoming freshmen (the ‘22s!). Pray that the Lord would direct our students to those who need a community like ours. Pray for our student freshmen gatherers who will be reaching out to them over the summer. Pray that they would be committed to the mission and prayerful through the process and that they would easily make connections to the ‘22s that will result in them feeling welcome and loved in CU!

Sincerely,
