Greetings!

As always, thank you for your partnership in the gospel ministry at Harvard Law School (HLS). Your support continues to encourage us and our students as we press on to see the gospel advance throughout the HLS campus and beyond.

As I write to you, we are more than halfway through the fall semester. Our Bible Courses and mentor meetings continue to bear fruit each week as the word of Christ dwells more and more richly in our students. We are always looking for ways to bring specific encouragement to our students as they begin to think about integrating the Christian faith and the law, so we have started a series called “FAITH in Practice” that brings in lawyers to share how they have practiced law in a way that pleases the Lord. Also, we are planning another series called “FAITH Talks” that will address the core doctrines of the faith in ways that will help our students apply the biblical worldview to their studies and work.
In the remaining weeks of this semester, our students will face the full force of Harvard Law’s intellectual rigor and secular worldview that can distract them from Christ and isolate them from his community. So we want to ask our Lord to sharpen minds, open hearts, and strengthen faith. Here is how you can be praying with us.

  1. Allegiance to Christ: Pray that our students will see every aspect of their lives under the lordship of Christ, taking every opportunity to live within his goodness, beauty, and power and proclaim his ways to others.
  2. Affections for Christ: Pray that our students will grow in their love for Christ in such a way that joy and peace fills their studies and relationships and moves them to love others well.
  3. Unity in Christ: Pray that our students will do nothing from rivalry or selfish ambition but enjoy and display the unity they have as members of the one body of Christ.

As I did last month, I leave you for now with another encouraging testimony from one of our students who graduated this past spring:

“Coram Deo Law is dedicated to regular Christian fellowship, study of the Bible, and discussion of how to integrate Christian faith with legal practice. I am very grateful for the friendships I formed and the teaching I received.”
— Josiah Kollmeyer (HLS J.D. 2017)
