In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” Mark 1:9-11

Dear CU Gloria Cornerstone Partners and other friends of the ministry,

Thank you for all the love, prayers, and support as the fall semester is now beginning to be in full swing. Bible courses have settled in their new rhythms, mostly on weeknights, studying the gospel of Mark, completely over Zoom. The earliest and shortest gospel has so much to teach us about Jesus, and our team is excited to be mining the riches therein and to be guiding our students in its ancient paths.

Mark’s prologue recounts the baptism of Jesus, where the Spirit is seen in a physical manifestation and the voice of God is audibly heard. You are my beloved son; with you I am well pleased. Identity feels urgently important during this season. For students who have competed their whole lives, it can be especially hard to rest in their identity as the Father’s beloved. Please pray with us for a deeper understanding and revelation of our identity in Christ, as sons and daughters, for all our students, as we read through the Gospel of Mark this fall.

Even though the majority of our ministry has been virtual, there is still activity and limited in-person ministry happening in Harvard Square. Our ministry fellows have been able to meet with first-year students, within Harvard’s strict guidelines, of course. And our weekly Leadership Lecture Series, Doxa, has continued to be a place of blessing and encouragement to our students this semester. All those involved in CU Gloria were especially overjoyed to have students from CU Lumine at Columbia, and CU Vita at Cornell, join us for our most recent Doxa.

Our ministry faculty and students are grateful for your participation in the work that God has called us to do on Harvard’s campus. Please continue to pray for the ministry faculty, ministering to students near and far over Zoom. Please also pray with us for God’s Spirit to descend upon us and our students in a powerful way and for revival to sweep our nation.

We have also loved receiving responses to these prayer emails, so please hit the reply button as you are able as we would be delighted to hear from you.

Yours in Christ,

Fady Ghobrial
