Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

I pray your summer has been full of fun, rest and, most of all, Christ. Campus here at Brown has been quiet since graduation back on Memorial Day weekend. Outside of a few students who have remained in Providence for internships, research and/or work, the majority of our students are dispersed around the globe. Matt Woodard, Ministry Director of Christian Union at Brown University, Laurel Copp, Ministry Fellow, and I have been busy catching up on some professional development and preparing for the fall semester. Additionally, we have gathered the few remaining students for a study of the book of Revelation. Though we haven’t been able to gather as often as we had hoped, the times we’ve gotten together have been fun times of catching up and trying to wrap our minds and hearts around this crazy book of the Bible. We’d love your prayers as we meet a few more times between now and the beginning of August. Please pray that God would not only enlighten our minds but encourage our hearts and empower obedience as we finish up this final book of the Bible.

Besides praying for this summer study, would you please also join us in praying for the following:

Our New (and first ever) Intern
Gianna Uson was one of the very first students to join our new ministry plant at Brown back in 2014, when she was a freshman. Having just graduated in May, she has decided to stay on campus and intern with Christian Union at Brown for this upcoming year (it would be an understatement to say we’re excited about this!!). While she’ll be living at the Judson Center, our ministry center on campus, she will need to raise financial support to cover her remaining living costs. And while she knows Brown’s campus/culture well, there will undoubtedly be an adjustment for her as she transitions from being a student to being a ministry intern. Please lift her up in prayer as she does make all these transitions. Pray that we as a staff would grow closer together – closer in vision, strategy, purpose and relationally – so that we will faithfully make much of Jesus on campus this coming year.

Preparation for the Fall
Students return to campus Labor Day weekend. While that seems like it’s a long way off, it really isn’t. Please pray as we as a staff, prepare for our Freshman Welcoming Campaign - the first four weeks of the semester in which we go all out in an effort to meet incoming first year students by planning lots of events, one-on-one coffee/lunch meetings and other impromptu gatherings - Bible Courses, leadership training and various other ministry related items. We also have lots of work to do around our ministry center, the Judson Center, to have it ready for all the ministry that will happen there this next year. We need God’s wisdom and strength to stay on task and have this all finished up before students arrive in September.

May God’s Spirit empower you in these summer months as you look to make much of Jesus in your home, work and neighborhood for the glory of the Father and the good of family and friends!

In Christ,

Justin Doyle
