“We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you…” - Colossians 1.3

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Though Paul and the Colossian church were strangers, they still prayed for each other as brothers and sisters in Christ. So it is with us. As you pray for us, we are praying for you. And we are thankful for your partnership in this ministry. It is our joy to serve with you and alongside you for the sake of the Kingdom!

Our Bible Courses continue to flourish as we work through Paul’s letter to the Colossians. The main theme that we emphasize weekly is this: Jesus is the center of everything. The application, then, is: Therefore, stay devoted to Him in the midst of pressures to turn away!

Students at Penn (and any other college) have so many pressures to turn away. To turn away from hedonism, idolatry of knowledge or materialism, moralistic therapeutic deism, or broad secularism that runs rampant in our culture. How we need to stay focused on Christ, not just for our justification, but for our sanctification as well (Col. 2.6)!

In light of this, would you pray for the following:

  • That our students would keep their eyes on Christ. For their growth in the Gospel to come through faith in Him, and not through any other means.
  • For those students who are not yet believers, that the eyes of their hearts would be opened to see wonderful things in the Gospel of grace, and give their lives to Jesus.
  • That, in the midst of building this Christian community here at Penn, we would be welcoming to all those who are interested in Christianity or in simply finding answers to life’s biggest questions - that we would be a gracious and hospitable group on campus.
  • That we would increase in Bible Course and Leadership Lecture Series attendance, even as midterms and academic pressure arises. As strength in the flesh fails, would the power of God in Christ sustain!
  • That the Veritas Forum would introduce many to the Gospel of Christ. On November 6, we are hosting Max McLean’s “CS Lewis Onstage.” Pray for the logistics, as well as the working of God’s Spirit as ewis’ conversion story is told at Annenburg Theatre here on Penn’s campus.

Thank you so much, brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you for your steadfast prayer. We praise God for you!
