And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:9-11

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As our Bible Courses study Paul’s letter to the Colossians this fall, we are reminded again and again of Paul’s joy in the Church. He loves God’s people! This is reflected in all of his letters, even to the Corinthians! His letter to the Philippians is often called the “Joy Letter,” because of his deep love for the recipients reflected in his joyful, hopeful epistle.

Just as it was Paul’s joy to minister the Gospel, so it is for the Church. It is our joy to proclaim the excellencies of Christ, the hope of salvation, and the joy of fellowship with other believers. Our hope and prayer is that the joy of fellowship will continue to extend throughout this campus. We praise God that there are new students continuing to enter into our Bible Courses - particularly Freshmen who are just getting acclimated to life at Penn, or who have realized that they can’t do college without the support, encouragement, and accountability of other Christians. I am thankful for those entering into our fellowship!

We have much to be thankful for, and much to continue praying for. Would you join us!

  • Praise God for a wonderful performance of Max McClean’s “CS Lewis Onstage,” here at Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Penn’s campus. It was a sold-out show, and exceeded our expectations for a Veritas event. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to introduce non-believers or new believers to the great story of CS Lewis’ conversion to the faith.
  • As Bible Courses are nearing their conclusion, please pray that Paul’s letter to the Colossians would be written on students’ hearts, that they would memorize God’s word (particularly Colossians 1.15-20), and that they would continually put on Christ as they take off the old self.
  • We are longing for a fresh breeze to blow through campus, that God’s Spirit would animate our actions and give power to our voices as we proclaim Christ. Pray that our students would have boldness, conviction, and grace as they speak the Gospel into the lives of friends.
  • Homelessness is rampant, even in these cold months, in Philadelphia. Our students are distributing blankets and coats to those in need, and sharing the Gospel as they do so. Pray that our conversations would be fruitful, and that lives would be transformed through this ministry.
  • Pray against the schemes of the enemy, that our students would hold fast to the Word, and would not be swayed by an ever-pressing cultural mandate to acquiesce to the ideas of this age. Pray that Christ would be their strength and shield.

God bless you friends in Christ. We could not do this ministry without you!
