Dear CU Martus Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Greetings from Penn! I pray this finds you well.

CU Martus has two exciting updates to share as we look ahead: preparation for Freshman Welcoming Campaign growing our team!

As we prepare for the start of another academic year, we are already reaching out to incoming freshmen and preparing for their arrival on campus. One significant effort of our outreach to incoming freshmen is connecting with them on Instagram and building that relationship with them before they step foot on campus. This allows us to engage with freshmen wondering what type of Christian community there is on campus and to welcome them with open arms.

Once we reach out to incoming freshmen on Instagram, we will invite them to the many events we will be hosting during the Freshman Welcoming Campaign, enabling them to build lifelong friendships in a vibrant Christian community at Penn. We will begin reaching out to freshmen on campus with a midnight pancake breakfast on the evening of August 25th. This is an excellent time to meet new students on campus as they are looking for social groups to connect with, and we find them early during their time on campus. This is one of my favorite events to reach freshmen, as we can meet hundreds of new students on campus.

I am also excited to announce that we will have a larger team to help with these efforts! We have recently hired an Administrative Assistant, Sarah Hickenbotham, and brought on a graduating senior as an Intern, Collin Frish. Sarah and Collin are great additions to the team, as they will enable us to broaden our impact and reach of students at Penn.

Sarah comes from a ministry background, has run her own business, and has the heart to see Penn students influenced by the Gospel and become Christian leaders. Her efforts within the ministry of CU Martus will be critical to mission accomplishment, as she cares for all the crucial details of the ministry.

Collin, Penn class of ‘23, has been involved with CU Martus since his freshman year while also serving in the worship department at his local church. Collin will be serving in three main areas:

  1. Develop other transformative leaders from among the Penn student body within CU Martus for the purpose of revival and reformation.
  2. Aid in the discipleship, mentoring, and coaching of CU Martus students in the following areas: Bible Courses, worship department, and one on one meeting.
  3. Extensively recruit Penn students into CU Martus through Freshman Welcoming Campaign (FWC), evangelistic efforts, and other CU Martus initiatives.

Please pray with us that:

  • The Holy Spirit would go before us to prepare the hearts of the incoming freshman for the gospel and ministry of CU Martus.
  • That the witness of CU Martus would be that of Christian love (John 13:35); therefore, drawing Christians and non-Christians into our community.
  • Each faculty, staff, and student leader would be filled with the Spirit and prepared and equipped for the work of ministry (Eph 2:10, Acts 1:8; 6:4).

Blessings,
