Dear friends,

It is exciting to write this inaugural prayer letter! Please praise and thank God along with us for what has happened so far this fall:

  • Mid-summer — We began reaching out to incoming freshmen through social media.
  • August 14 — Our family (Justin, Kate, Keira, and Joy) moved to Palo Alto, California, only a short bike ride away from the center of Stanford’s campus.
  • September 20 — Freshmen arrived, and over the ensuing weeks I had the privilege of meeting some thirty freshmen face-to-face, introducing them to Christian Union Caritas and to one another.
  • October 9 — We had our first freshman guys Bible course with12 students at our home for dinner and the beginning of our 10-lesson study of the Gospel of Mark.
  • November 1 — Garrett Brown, a local Bay Area pastor for the past seventeen years, joined the now two-person ministry team of as ministry director.

We are thrilled with what God has done so far and are trusting him for much more grace!

Please join us in prayer for:

  • The students who are currently involved, that they would grow in their love for Christ, knowledge of God’s word, and relationships with each other.
  • Stanford students who don’t know Christ or who aren’t in Christian fellowship, that God would welcome many of them into our growing ministry.
  • The students who are already stepping into leadership roles with the ministry, that they would lead with the strength and wisdom God supplies and accomplish much for his Name as they take a crucial part in building this ministry for — we hope — generations to come.
  • Our efforts to start a freshman girls Bible course, that God would also bring many female students into the ministry, so that they might grow in their faith and also help build this ministry.

Thank you so much for your partnership in the gospel through prayer!

In Christ,
