Christian Union
Greetings,

Another semester at Columbia is coming to a close. As we reflect on all that has happened this semester, we are in awe of God’s goodness toward us. We thank God for an enthusiastic freshman class, fruitful times of ministry and a new ministry center that will serve our community well. Although we are sad to see our seniors go, we are confident that we have prepared them for Christian leadership in whatever vocation they find themselves in.

We’ve had very engaging events recently. Noted Christian philosopher James K.A Smith visited our campus for an entire weekend. He gave several lectures for Christian Union, spoke at a Veritas Forum, and had great discussion time over lunch with students. Smith spoke largely about issues relating to his new book, “Awaiting the King: Reforming Public Theology” where he gives a Christian approach to politics. Smith is not only highly knowledgeable about which he speaks but is also an excellent communicator. His engagement with non-Christian students caused them to rethink the merits of their secular worldview. Hundreds of students heard from Smith during the entire weekend he was here.

Here are ways you can partner with us in prayer:

  • Pray for our students as they enter the toughest part of the school year.
  • This is the time that they are most susceptible to shaping their self-worth around academic success/failure.
  • We have already begun to plan for the next academic year. Pray that God can give us wisdom for more effective ministry on campus.
  • Pray for our newly selected student leaders that they may have an effective year of service.
  • Pray that the summertime would be a refreshing time of spiritual strengthening for our students. Many of them go back to communities that aren’t Christian during the summer.
  • Some seniors may still be unsure of what the future holds for them, and this is causing them anxiety. Pray for them as they transition into a new season of life.

Thank you for your faithful support of Christian Union. We continue to change lives at Columbia because our partners in ministry are ever interceding for us. We are indebted to you all for our success.

In Christ,
