Christian Union
Dear CU Lumine Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

We praise God for partners like you in supporting the work He is doing through Christian Union Lumine at Columbia. The students have reached the halfway point of the semester and will be gearing up for finals in a month. Due to the pandemic, this is a shorter semester with classes concluding mid-April.

We are encouraged by the students involved in CU Lumine Bible courses, Illumina (Leadership Lecture Series) events, outreach events, or times of prayer. We see God’s transforming hand at work in their lives as He grows them into His image.

Every day at 9 am EST, students of the ministry get together to read scripture and pray. What began as a two-week initiative at the start of 2021 has turned into a daily practice. We can sense the hunger in the hearts of the students for more of God. This hunger has also produced some very fruitful conversations during our one-on-one discipleship times with students as well as in our growing weekly Bible courses among the sophomores and juniors as we study the book of Acts.

It was also encouraging to see students of CU Lumine lead a workshop on evangelism for other students on campus. We are still experiencing the fruits of the first workshop on the gospel & evangelism workshop held last semester.

As we turn the corner on the spring semester, please join us in praying for:

  • One-on-one discipleship: Pray for deep, meaningful conversations with students. Pray for those that are struggling in their faith and for those that seek to grow in their walk with God. Pray that God would use these one-on-one times to strengthen and grow individuals.
  • New student executive team: Pray for the new student leadership team that will be transitioning into their roles in the coming weeks. These new student leaders will be walking into so many unknowns regarding classes in the fall. Pray that God would give them wisdom & favor to lead.
  • Staff: Please pray for me and Taylor Willis. Pray God would continue to give us His strength as we minister to the student body at Columbia.
  • Spiritual hunger and thirst: Pray that the students would have a deep hunger for the things of God: prayer, worship, Christian community, reading scripture.
  • Raising up new financial partners: we know that we can’t do this ministry without supporters like you. Join us in praying that God would bring new Christ-minded friends of this ministry to help rebuild CU Lumine at Columbia through their financial support.

Thank you for your love and partnership at CU Lumine. We could not do this without your prayers.

Grace and Peace,

Stan Thomas
