Dear CU Lumine Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Greetings from New York City!

We praise God for partners like you who are supporting the work He is doing through Christian Union Lumine at Columbia. The students have reached the halfway point of the semester and will be facing midterms soon!
We are encouraged by the students involved in CU Lumine whether it be our Bible courses, Illumina (LLS) events, outreach events, or times of prayer. We see God’s transforming hand at work in their lives as He grows them into His image.

Our students just concluded a week of fasting and prayer followed by an outreach event sharing the gospel of Christ to one person they encounter every day. We have re-launched our small groups and are gearing up for our outreach event distributing books on campus. We can sense the hunger in the hearts of the students for more of God. This hunger has produced some very fruitful conversations during our one-on-one discipleship time with students. We also see it in Bible course growth among the sophomore and junior students as we study the book of Romans.

It has also been encouraging to see CU Lumine students invite their friends to various events held by CU Lumine. God has been faithful to grow our work at Columbia.

As we turn the corner on the spring semester, please join us in praying for:

  1. One-on-one discipleship: Pray for deep, meaningful conversations with students. Pray for those that are struggling in their faith and for those that seek to grow in their walk with God. Pray that God would use these one-on-one times to strengthen and grow individuals.
  2. New Student Executive Team: Pray for the new student leadership team that will be transitioning into their roles in the coming weeks. These new student leaders will be walking into so many unknowns in the fall. Pray that God would give them wisdom and favor to lead.
  3. Staff: Please pray for myself and Jade Thompson. Pray God would continue to give us His strength as we minister to the student body at Columbia.
  4. Spiritual hunger and thirst: Pray that the students would have a deep hunger for the things of God: prayer, worship, Christian community, reading Scripture, and fasting.
  5. Raising up new financial partners: We know that we can’t do this ministry without supporters like you. Join us in praying that God would bring new Christ-minded friends of this ministry to help rebuild CU Lumine at Columbia through their financial support.

Thank you for your love and partnership at CU Lumine. We could not do this without your prayers.

Grace and Peace,

Stan Thomas

P.S. The CU Faculty started the year off with a week of fasting and prayer in the Poconos. It was a sweet time to worship God with my brothers and sisters. I was encouraged by two songs that I added to my playlist that have been on repeat since our time together. I would love to share them with you: Make Room and Christ Our Hope.
