Grace and Peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I am excited about how God has been moving in the lives of our students here at Columbia University through Christian Union Lumine.
We kicked off the semester with our first weekly Leadership Lecture Series (Illumina) meeting on Thursday, 1/18 with 59 students attending. Over the past several meetings we’ve had Nathaniel Peters (Morningside Institute), Pastor James Roberson (Bridge Church) and Lydia Dugdale (Columbia University) as guest speakers.
We had a fall retreat, “Where is God,” at Harvey Cedar Bible Conference from Friday, 1/26 - Sunday, 1/28 with 28 students. We spent the time away in prayer, Bible study, small group discussions and activities. The focus of our prayer time was seeking God to see an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and revival on the campus of Columbia University (photo below).
We also had 57 men and 35 women register for Bible Course on Monday, 1/29. We kicked off our new Monday night “Seek” prayer meetings on campus from 8pm-9pm and Tuesday - Saturday evening prayer meetings, Sunday dinner and prayer 2/4 and Friday’s day of fasting. We are also launching a community outreach ministry team to partner with Salvation Army, Bowery Mission, and others to minister to the needy. We’ve also experienced an increase in student athletes attending the meetings.
As we quickly approach spring break, Palm and Easter Sunday celebrations, please pray for the following:
- Our students will grow deeper in their relationship with Christ through prayer, fasting and studying His word.
- God raises up more student leaders who will share the gospel with boldness to their peers on campus.
- God would provide an opportunity to have an evangelistic event on Butler Lawn in the center of Columbia University's campus.
- For revival on the campus amongst the faculty and students.
