I Thessalonians 5:17, 23,25
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you… Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it…. pray for us.

Dear CU Lux Cornerstone Partners and other friends of the ministry,

CU Lux deeply values your love, prayers, and support through the many changing seasons this year has brought. One thing we do know is that God who calls us is faithful through it all!

In October, we said farewell to our beloved Ministry Director, Clay, who returned to full-time service with the U.S. Coast Guard. Pray that God will be with Clay in his new assignment and that He will send us another exceptional leader to fill Clay’s very large shoes. Meanwhile, I am serving as our transitional manager, and Michael Racine has stepped back in to shepherd our young men.

The Gospel of Mark, which is being studied in our Bible Courses, has helped students focus on what it means to be a follower of ‘the Way,’ a name that was popularly used in Mark’s time for those who were followers of Jesus. For our students, learning about being a Christian disciple amidst a year of deep uncertainty has been eye-opening.

Our bi-weekly ‘Rooted’ which is our large group gathering, has provided an opportunity to build community and hear from different speakers. This semester we’ve had the special joy of hearing from our alums on the theme of Life after Yale in addition to hearing from others.

Please keep these requests in your prayers:

  • Although all our courses are via Zoom, it has been a joy to see our students, who are clearly hungering for the Word, being filled. Pray for more hunger for God’s Word.
  • Our Assistant Bible Course Leaders have grown in spiritual maturity as they take an active role in helping lead courses under the guidance of our Ministry Fellows. Praise God for their faithfulness.
  • Our student exec and leaders have modeled a godly example for many under their care. They have stood strong despite the many transitions and have chosen to continue to lean on the Lord for wisdom and direction. Pray for them as they manage their own workloads and ministry responsibilities.
  • A desire for prayer and retreating together with the Lord is happening in the form of both Men’s and Women’s Retreats this Fall. Pray as we anticipate the presence of the Lord to visit us in these retreats.
  • Although social distancing is the phrase of the year, our students have found a way to be creatively social through virtual events and games including safe, small group get-togethers in the ‘Mouse’, which is our student space. Pray for deeper connections between our students.
  • It is a particular joy to see our freshmen ladies visiting the ‘Mouse’ to study or hang out in small groups. Pray particularly for our freshmen class, both men and women, to grow in number and be especially encouraged in the Lord in these strange times.
  • Our students are scattered across many locations. Pray that they will be held by the comforting and strengthening presence of God as they call on Him wherever they are located.
  • Many battle deep anxieties, discouragement, and loneliness, but it is also encouraging to see lives being delivered from fears and bondages that fight to keep them hostage. Pray for their support in these areas.
  • Our Ministry Fellows meet students one on one, offering hours of listening and prayer across various time zones and schedules. Please pray for our Ministry Fellows as they minister to many needy students both in active leadership and others in the community.
  • Finally, please pray for our evangelism event on November 12, as Vince Vitale and Abdu Murray share their journeys to faith in Jesus. On a campus that is so bound by much ‘captivity’ and ‘oppression’ pray that God would set people free to experience the abundant life offered in Him.
  • Finally, please give thanks for our Cornerstone Partners who provide financial support that makes this ministry possible. If you are interested in becoming a new partner, click here or contact me to hear more.

We give thanks for each of you!
