Dear Cornerstone Partners and friends of CU Lux,

Signs surround us—whether it’s emojis in digital communication, traffic signs that help us navigate the roads, or business logos that mark brand identity. A sign is a visible representation of an idea, something standing for something other than itself. Anything can be a sign as long as someone interprets it as signifying something. In John’s gospel, Jesus performs seven signs as visible symbols of God’s presence on earth. Each of the seven solicits a response: Do you believe that Jesus is the embodiment of God’s presence?

CU Lux is enthusiastic to announce a newly-formed partnership with The Chosen, the first-ever multi-season TV show about the life of Jesus. Inspired by the collection of signs in John (21:24), we are using this powerful retelling of the gospel to introduce the Yale student body to Jesus.

Imagine hundreds of posters hung around campus and personal invitations via text, email, and social media. Picture students watching the life of Jesus in small groups. Envision many meeting Jesus for the first time and many encounters leading to transformed lives by pursuing radical repentance and revival.

With Yale being the first university campus in the world to premier The Chosen, we organized an interview with film director Dallas Jenkins and actress Liz Tabish (Mary Magdalene). Three hundred attendees discussed how the show brings well-known biblical characters to life and draws people closer to God. After all, Jesus came to display signs of salvation, and we at CU Lux are committed to making his signs visible at Yale.

Our world could use more signs of God’s presence. Yale needs more signs.

Will you join us in praying for the Yale student body to meet Jesus?

Eternal God, no one has ever seen you, but your only son, Jesus Christ—who became incarnate, died on the cross, rose on the third day according to Scripture, and was exalted at your right hand—he has made you known. When we read the words of Jesus, we hear you. When we look at his signs, we see your power. When we welcome him into our lives, we accept you. Thank you that The Chosen TV series is (re)introducing Jesus to our students. Use more signs to draw Yale students in your loving arms. Amen.

Blessings,
